An Attitude of a Believer When Tackling a Goal: Lessons from Gaza

We all have goals, dreams, and ambitions and sometimes obstacles are placed in front of us that test our patience and resilience. It’s during these tough times that our attitude as believers makes all the difference.

I want to share a principle with you that has helped me immensely:

"Nothing will stop me from achieving my goal except Allah ﷻ. I am the believing woman who doesn't achieve her goals only because Allah ﷻ redirects her to something even better - whether that’s returning to Him ﷻ or being redirected to another opportunity, but it isn't because I give up or get distracted."

Reflect on that for a moment.

This mindset reminds us of two things:

1. That our efforts are never wasted. Every challenge, every detour, is part of Allah’s divine plan. Embracing this perspective helps us navigate our struggles with faith and perseverance, knowing that every step we take is under His guidance.

2. As believers we continue forward no matter what, until our last breath.

Look at Gaza: A Guide of Inspiration

Now, let’s talk about resilience. Our brothers and sisters in Gaza are the epitome of this principle. Despite facing unimaginable hardships and constant threats, they keep moving forward with unshakeable faith. They plant their seeds, they study, they work, they pray, and they even find creative ways to make chips for their kids – all while living under the shadow of uncertainty.

But why do they continue you may ask?

Their resilience isn’t just about surviving; it’s about thriving despite adversity. It’s about holding onto faith and continuing to pursue their dreams, trusting that Allah’s plan is greater than their immediate trials. If they can keep going amidst such extreme challenges, we can definitely find the strength to persevere in our own struggles.

Applying These Lessons to Our Lives

Let’s take these lessons and apply them to our lives. Here are some practical steps you can journal through as you read. Grab your notebook or journal and let’s get started!

1. Trust in Allah’s Plan

Journaling Prompt:

  • Reflect on a recent setback you’ve faced. How can you reframe this experience as a divine redirection rather than a failure?
  • Write a dua asking Allah for guidance and strength to trust His plan and turn this into your new daily affirmation

2. Stay Committed

Journaling Prompt:

  • List three goals you are currently working towards. For each goal, write down why it is important to you and how it aligns with your faith.
  • Identify any obstacles you are currently facing with these goals and brainstorm ways to overcome them.

3. Draw Strength from Faith

Journaling Prompt:

  • Write about a time when you felt weak or discouraged and turned to Allah in prayer. How did your connection with Allah help you through this period?
  • List your favorite dua'as or Quranic verses that bring you comfort and strength. Keep this list handy for moments when you need a spiritual boost.

4. Set Small, Achievable Goals

Journaling Prompt:

  • Break down one of your larger goals into smaller, manageable steps. Write down each step and set a deadline for when you want to achieve it.
  • Celebrate a recent small victory. Write about how it made you feel and how it has motivated you to keep going.

5. Reflect and Adjust

Journaling Prompt:

  • Reflect on your progress towards your goals over the past month. What has worked well? What hasn’t?
  • Write down one adjustment you can make to your approach to improve your progress.

6. Be Inspired by Resilience

Journaling Prompt:

  • Reflect on the resilience of our brothers and sisters in Gaza. Write about how their perseverance inspires you.
  • Set a personal resilience goal. What is one way you can show resilience in your own life this week?

7. Seek Support

Journaling Prompt:

  • Who are the key people in your support network?
  • Write their names and how they help you stay motivated.
  • Schedule a discovery call with a life coach to see how they can support you in achieving your goals.

Conclusion

As you continue on your journey, remember that you are not alone. Your efforts, guided by faith and trust in Allah , will lead you to success, even if the path isn’t always clear. Take inspiration from the resilience of Gaza, and let it fuel your determination to achieve your goals. Keep planting your seeds, watering them with hope and perseverance, and trust that Allah will bring forth the harvest in His perfect time. Be the believing woman who says, "I won’t give up."

May Allah grant us the strength and patience to persevere, and may He bless our efforts with success. Ameen.

Stay motivated, stay resilient. 🌱
